I Have Severe Back Problems

Question by miran: I have severe back problems and does anyone know if it would be better to go to a pain specialists or an?
orthopedic surgeon? I would like to know what an orthopedic surgeon could do for me. I have 5 bulged discs and one is pressing against my spinal cord and also arthritis. Amongst other things. Any suggestions? And is an orthopedic surgeon going to give me something for the pain?

An orthopedic surgeon is going to tell if you if you need surgery or not. He could give you something for the pain or he could send you to a spinal pain management specialist. This could involve pills or a series of injections into the problem area. I have serious neck problems with my C6-7 (non protrusive herniation) so I know what you’re going through! Make sure you get an MRA and bring those with you to the surgeon.

You need to see an ortho surgeon. The ortho will be able to diagnose the exact problem, give you something for the pain and refer you to a pain management specialist. He will also advise you if surgery would be benificial in your case. Another good option is to see a physio. They have good exercises for core stability. Doing the exercises helps develop the muscles around the back to help take the strain which will reduce the pain.
